a list-transforming function

Jueves, Agosto 28th, 2008

Here we pipe the original list into a list-transforming function - the function that is the result of partially applying List.filter to IsOdd. Since this example is very simple, I could have just written
let newList = List.filter IsOdd origList

That is, this example didn’t need partial application and dell KD186 XD187 312-0416 b130 b120 battery the pipeline. But if we were doing a more complicated series of transformations on the list, then the pipeline style and partial applications would be Dell Latitude D620 D630 Series battery the way to go. Indeed, we saw this in the previous blog entry about pipelines, where there were a number of partial applications battery fits Fujitsu FPCBP94,FPCBP94AP battery of functions in the Set module.

In general, partial application of curried functions is a handy technique, and in practice Battery Nec Versa E400 Mitac 8677 4CGR18650A2-MSL I find that pipelines are the place where this technique is most commonly used.

(Teaser: I have an idea for a more detailed example that utilizes partial Battery Apple G4 15 A1045 A1078 A1148 M9325 application in a particularly interesting way, and I hope to write about it in the near future.)

Completed Week

Lunes, Agosto 4th, 2008

All in all it was a pretty good week. I must admit I took it a little easy as I was a bit tired. However I did do everything I was supposed to which is an accomplishment. I started the laptop ac adapter week with my first real long brick of the year. I have to be ahead of the game if I can do a 2.5hr ride/1.5hr run in February right?? Other than the cold, it was great to ride outside, and I felt pretty good on my run after. Enjoyed two good spin classes this week (even with pool Lori battling through laptop ac adapter her cold!). Was disappointed that there was snow on Thursday morning, and the road was slick….after a close call for a wipe out on my 4th hill repeat I decided to cut that run short. Also opted to spin inside today as the roads are not pretty. Still did my run after, and felt pretty good. Also enjoyed The adapter the swim social at Dakotas after practice. Anyone who needs entertainment, just ask Mianne about her breathing in the shower….it’s a riot! So it was an uneventful, but productive week of training….hope the next week is good to me!!

Pretty good week

Domingo, Agosto 3rd, 2008

Considering that it was a recovery from Mexico week I think I made out ok. I met with Dave and he’s given me training guidance (and orders not to go too wild…not to worry, I don’t want to burn out). Swim, bike, run weights etc. I think I’ve planned ok for the next week or so.

My first few days didn’t feel so great. Spin class on Monday PA-1500-02 and Wed was tough, as was swimming those nights. Just needed to adjust a bit. My easy run on Tuesday was good, better than I thought considering how much time I’d taken off. After a grueling first day back at work (10 hour shift on customer appreciation day - ugh) I didn’t manage the gym, but did do abs and stretching back home. Lori killed us at spin class on Wed morning, by legs are still sore from all that PA-1500-02 standing. My Thursday spin at home was good. I did an hour and 15 minutes….easy during commercials, harder otherwise. I was late to masters on Friday because of work, but got in a pretty good workout. I managed a 400 in less then 6 minutes, which was pretty good considering my lousy physical condition at the moment. Clark and I went for an easy ride to Ellison on Saturday - touques and all - it was actually pretty nice. I ran some hills up Wilden after that. I did a pyramid.PA-1500-02 1st lightpost, 2nd then 3rd then back down. Thought it better to go easy on my first hill training in a while. I did go to the gym too when Clark went golfing.

Today, Suki and I managed to get through an easy 10k run. Good thing she came becuase I felt awful. I could swear I was 400 pounds it was so tough. After the run we were both humming and PA-1500-02 hawwing about our next planned workout (swimming for Suki, gym for me) but we both decided to go…the power of teamwork. I felt better at the gym, so I hope that’s a sign that the body is snapping back. We shall see tomorrow at the 6 am spin!

Well Geo part II

Sábado, Agosto 2nd, 2008

Well Geo. would say “Aw come on Dave I am older than him.” But you couldn’t fool Dave and the result was that we would half to take our custom down to Pigeon’s where everybody that had a dime was the same age and the only minors was the boys that tried to start a charge acct.

I must hand it to Geo. for one thing. No matter hp PP2182D battery how sore it made him to get turned down he never told them the truth about me. And they wouldn’t of believed him if he had of. No more than you birds believe me now.

But now in regards to this book: When the publisher asked me to write it up I said I didn’t see how more than only a few people would be interested because they was only a few that is this old. So he told me that as a matter of hp PP2182D battery fact pretty near everybody in the world that can read is either 35 or a few mos. one way or the other and if I didn’t think that was so to go and look it up in a book. So I looked up in the encyclopedia and they was nothing in there like he said but I found out a whole lot of other things that was news to me and maybe the reader don’t know them neither so I will write them down.

In the 1st. place it says that most people dies hp PP2182D battery when they are 1 yr. old and the 1st. 10 yrs. is the most fatalist. But if they’s a 100 thousand people that can manage to get to be 10 yrs. old why then 749 of them is pretty libel to die the next yr. After that the older you get the longer you live up to when you are 59 and then you can just about count on liveing 14 and seven-tenths yrs. more. In other wds. if you ain’t one of the 749 that crokes between 10 and 11 why you are safe till about June of the yr. when you are 73. So hp PP2182D battery a person is a sucker to try and take care of themself at my age and from now on I am going to be a loose fish and run wild.

story here

Viernes, Agosto 1st, 2008

A few years ago, at the height of the dotcom boom, it was widely assumed that a publishing revolution, in which the printed word would be supplanted by the computer screen, was just around the corner. It wasn’t: for many, there is still little to match the joy of cracking the spine of a good book and settling down for an hour or two of reading. But a recent flurry of activity by big technology companies—including Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Yahoo!—suggests that the dream of bringing books online is still very much alive.

The digitising of thousands of volumes of print is not without controversy. On Thursday November 3rd, Google, the world’s most popular search engine, posted a first instalment of books on Google Print, an initiative laptop ac adapter first mooted a year ago. This collaborative effort between Google and several of the world’s leading research libraries aims to make many thousands of books available to be searched and read online free of charge. Although the books included so far are not covered by copyright, the plan has attracted the ire of publishers.

Five large book firms are suing Google for violating copyright on material that it has scanned and, although out of print, is still protected by law. Google has said that it will only publish short extracts from material under copyright unless given express permission to publish more, but publishers are unconvinced. Ironically, many publishers are collaborating with Google on a separate venture, Google Print Publisher, which aims to give readers an online taste of books that are commercially available. The searchable laptop ac adapter collection of extracts and book information is intended to tempt readers to buy the complete books online or in print form.

Not to be outdone, Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, has unveiled plans for its own foray into the mass e-book market. The firm, which began ten years ago as an online book retailer, now sells a vast array of goods. No doubt piqued that Google, a relative newcomer, should impinge upon its central territory, Amazon revealed on Thursday laptop ac adapter that it would introduce two new services. Amazon Pages will allow customers to search for key terms in selected books and then buy and read online whatever part they wish, from individual pages to chapters or complete works. Amazon Upgrade will give customers online access to books they have already purchased as hard copies. Customers are likely to have to pay around five cents a page, with the bulk going to the publisher.

Microsoft, too, has joined the online-book bandwagon. At the end of October, the software giant said it would spend around $200m to digitise texts, starting with 150,000 that are in the public domain, to avoid legal problems. It will do so in collaboration with the Open Content Alliance, a consortium of libraries and universities. (Yahoo! has pledged to make 18,000 books available online in conjunction with the same organisation.) And on Thursday, coincidentally the same day as Google laptop ac adapter and Amazon announced their initiatives, Microsoft released details of a deal with the British Library, the country’s main reference library, to digitise some 25m pages; these will be made available through MSN Book Search, which will be launched next year.
